Musk seems quite confident on being asked how confident he is for the deal of Twitter to finalize and happen on paper. He even gave a timeline of two to three months from now that the deal should happen. Furthermore, he does chip in the legal liabilities still waiting to be resolved but is optimistic about the whole deal.

Donald Trump controversy saying it was not correct to put a permanent ban on Trump’s account. Musk said that he has communicated on the issue with Jack Dorsey, and he too thinks the ban should only be reserved for rare occasions.

Adding to the question of bringing back the account of Trump on Twitter, he said it’s too early for him to say as he does not own Twitter as yet. Musk has been very vocal about his free-speech take on the social media platform.

“I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I do think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice. He is now going to be on Truth Social as will a large part of the right in the United States. So, I think this could end up being frankly worse than a single forum where everyone could debate.”

Everyone should have the right to voice their opinion on social media like Twitter. However, that should not allow anyone to say anything destructive, but he did mention that he does not support a permanent ban on anyone’s account.

Why Did Twitter Put A Permanent Ban On Donald Trump?

The permanent ban on Donald Trump came amidst his losing to Joe Biden ruckus last year. Donald Trump’s followers caused largescale violence around the US capital Washington DC. The presidential election caused a row on social media, making major social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube banned Donald Trump.

The ban came last year in 2021 in the presidential elections of the United States. But no platform reinstated Trump’s account after banning him. Donald Trump also said that he would not go back to Twitter on Fox News in response to the ban. However, his response came in before Musk’s Twitter purchase was finalized.

“I am not going on Twitter. I am going to stay on Truth (Truth Social). I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it, and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.”

Will Elon Musk Take The Ban Off?

Elon Musk wants to bring Donald Trump back on the Twitter platform, but Trump says he is better off this social media platform. Musk has repeatedly mentioned in his tweets and other platforms that he condemns banning Trump permanently.

Elon Musk said, “Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter.”

On the other hand, there still is one section that thinks that Elon Musk and Trump are cut from the same cloth in the way they use their power. Therefore, there would be a fair amount of backlash if his account is restored on the Twitter platform.

What To Expect In Future?

In his FT’s live interview with Peter Campbell, Elon Musk mentioned how he feels about banning Trump from Twitter. Right now, Musk still does not have ownership of Twitter. However, it is not long before Twitter will come under his supervision after the deal finalizes.

Elon Musk socially accepted that Jack Dorsey to thinks the same about the ban being unethical and morally wrong on the part of human rights. Musk has some sort of power to his words when it comes to changing the mass perspective in a way.

Let’s hope and see if the Twitter deal favors both sides that want Trump on social media platforms and those who don’t. In the meanwhile, please share your thoughts on the current situation. Where do you think Twitter is headed with Musk being the one calling the shots?
