Elon Musk’s Twitter Is No Longer Home To Ex-Tesla Designer & EV Startup CEO Henrik Fisker

Henrik Fisker deleted his account from Twitter following the news of Elon Musk buying the company came out publicly. Fisker is a long-standing rival of Musk, designing electric cars and automotive technology from 2007 onwards.

The Twitter-Musk row has been a roller coaster ride for the last few weeks. The final nod from Twitter to sell the company for about $44 billion made it clear there is no looking back for Twitter Inc. now.

Deleting the account on Twitter by Fisker does not come as a surprise as the rivalry with Musk in the electric vehicle industry is going strong between the two. However, Fisker nowhere mentioned that he is doing so to irk Musk or because of his new ownership title of Twitter.

Who Is Henrick Fisker?

Henrik Fisker is a known electric vehicle designer who has worked for Musk for a short while in the past. In his little stint with Tesla to work on the very early stages of Model S, the duo Elon Musk and Fisker got on the wrong foot from the very start.

Fisker first launched Fisker Automotive startup to work on his dream EV projects. However, he left the company, and the company too had to file for bankruptcy only a few years later, in 2013. Fisker Automotive had to go through a lot of backlashes for issues in the battery pack and delivery. The company lost a big shipment to Sandy Hurricane in Port Newark which added to the bankruptcy of the company.

Fisker only got the Fisker trademarks and logo to his name following the bankruptcy. A Chinese group, Wanxiang, bought the company and acquired the assets from Fisker. Furthermore, Fisker’s designed Karma EV is still available on the market with the Karma GS-6.

Currently, Fisker is working on various electric vehicle projects and plans to launch the first all-electric car later this year, after launching another EV company Fisker Inc in 2016. Fisker Inc is all set to bring its first model The Ocean SUV, to production in November 2022, scheduled to be manufactured in an Austria facility.

Why Did He Delete His Account?

The personal Twitter account of Henrik Fisker disappeared from the platform just a few hours after the news of the Twitter buyout came out. However, no official statement came from Fisker to explain why he is making the move.

Fisker put on the last tweet on his profile saying, “Please follow me on IG from now on if you want updates. Thanks. #Fisker #Love #EV #ESG #ClimateCrisis #follow”, just before deleting his account. However, the account for Frisker Inc. is still active on the social media platform.

Henrik Fisker has been vocal about his take on hybrids and electric vehicle technology. Nonetheless, at the time of deleting his account, Fisker only had about 86,600 followers on Twitter, as compared to Elon’s 84.6 million followers.

Fisker’s first post on Instagram included a video of him driving the new EV, The Ocean, on the test track of Magna. Elon Musk is yet to comment on the transition of Fisker’s presence from Twitter to Instagram.

What Is Henrik’s Take On Twitter Buyout?

The answer to why he deleted can become clearer with his answer on free speech on a post he tweeted on April 26. Moreover, his tweets even do not confirm whether the account was deactivated or deleted, causing a speculation stir in the media. Fisker’s Instagram post on April 26 says:

“I believe 100% in free speech. But I do not want my free speech to be actively managed or controlled by a competitor. And I do not want a competitor to determine how my followers experience Fisker as we grow our company.”

The EV designer was in a contract with Tesla when he left the company to work on his startup and develop Fisker Karma, a new hybrid sedan with a sporty look. The move made Musk furious, and Tesla filed a lawsuit against Fisker to steal confidential details from the EV company. However, the lawsuit turned out in the favor of Fisker as he won the arbitration.

What To Expect In Future?

Fisker is set to launch his first electric, and Tesla is already an established name in the EV sector. Therefore, it would be foolish to compare the two EV CEOs regarding their social media engagement. Twitter is a powerful platform, and there might be more interesting departures in near future.

Elon Musk and his dynamic approach are celebrated by many, but he enjoys criticism from many prominent names too. The current row on social media following his Twitter $44 billion deal is bursting with all sorts of reactions from worldwide.

It would be worth watching how other A-listers react to the Twitter buyout.

Many supporters are expressing their happiness about how Elon is going to change the world with his expertise and charisma. Whereas other sections think this is a dangerous move to give the keys to the social media platform to Musk. There is so much more to unfold in near future.
