$25,000 Tesla Model 2 (2S3XY) Is Coming! Here’s What You Can Expect

Elon Musk is going to change history again with the new addition of the Tesla Model 2 like they did with the Tesla Model 3.

Yes! Tesla Model 2.

From the time Elon confirmed on battery day in 2020 and the recent news that there is definitely the possibility of seeing model 2 in production soon, there’s a sublime buzz.

With Model 2, there is great potential for Tesla EVs to become a cost-effective option for consumers in the near future.

By investing in robust R&D and scaling up production, Musk can help ensure that Tesla electric cars remain a viable alternative to gas-powered vehicles for many-many years to come.

What would be the design and specifications, everyone wants to know the details of Model 2 in the making.

Why Tesla Model 2 Is A Big Deal?

Hefty prices have always been electric vehicles’ main drawback, given the expensive cost of materials. Every famous and good-spec EV costs a fortune for an average EV buyer still.

Elon Musk promised a cheaper entry-level Tesla Model 3 with a $35K price tag but it did not happen and let’s face it, EVs are quite costly at present.

However, Elon Musk’s Tesla Model 2 is going to change the scenario as it comes closer to being available to the public. The Model 2 is said to cost around $25,000 and up, a game changer in the EV market.

Here’s why!

Electric cars are a key part of the future of transportation, and their popularity is only expected to grow in the coming years. One of the biggest challenges facing electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers today is that they can be quite expensive compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles.

This presents a significant barrier for many consumers who might otherwise be interested in switching to an electric vehicle. However, as the cost of producing electric cars continues to decline, there is hope that EV adoption rates will increase, which would be a huge boon for businesses in the EV market.

Comes in Tesla Model 3. There are only so many entry-level EVs in the market currently making it difficult for everyone to opt for the electric route.

Tesla Model 2 Specs

Even though Tesla has not yet announced the official name of their upcoming $25,000 car project, many people are referring to it as Model 2. Oh, some even call it Baby Tesla or Model Q as well.

Why? No one knows. But there are theories!

The most likely explanation for this is that Tesla’s light-hearted SEXY vehicle naming scheme “S3XY” would follow a potential naming scheme of “2S3XY”. However, Elon refuses the whole idea saying there is no Model 2 or Model 3.

Elon said that Model 3 is called so because they cannot name the EV Model E as originally planned. Ford tried to sue him for the name Model E and the same can happen with the Model 2 name.

As with most rumored speculations around the $25000 Tesla car is thought to be a compact hatchback competing with the Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf. Tesla is nowhere close to that entry-level range, but with this $25K project, Tesla can reclaim the sector with a bang.

Moreover, if European customers are the main target for this cheapest Tesla, then Tesla China has the greatest potential in terms of market growth with its Shanghai Giga.

But, his mention of the cheaper and smaller upcoming car in a recent meeting gives us hope of seeing the $25K car soon. But will it be $25,000?

Cost

It’s cheap! The expected Tesla Model 2 has always been praised for its possibly reasonable price tag. At $25K, it is lower than most other electric car options on the market – making it easier for more people to afford.

But will it happen?

We highly doubt the claim as this promise was done two years ago, and from that first mention to today, the global shortages are surely going to burden this expected price. Musk says the platform of $25k projects would share the Model3/Y platform in terms of cost. So, why won’t one buy them instead? Yup! It’s all grey so far!

Design

Tesla did not come up with any potential news on the cost front so far, meaning there is still no definite $25K tag, but the new Model 2 is supposed to be based on budget pricing. This might be the sole base for the rumored scaled-down Model 3 or Model Y design scheme for the upcoming EV.

Model 2 should be a future-proof car for the Tesla fleet.

Over the years, Tesla has improved its technology and features with its regular software updates, and the Model 2 should be no different in terms of interiors and exteriors.

The car might come equipped with internet connectivity and a 17-inch touchscreen display that lets you control everything from navigation to climate control. Plus, Tesla is constantly working on new technology that will change the way we think about electric cars, like self-driving capabilities and a fully connected car ecosystem.

So, we expect FSD and even much more that might be possible for the Model 2 through over-the-air Tesla updates.

Range & Trims

There will be two different versions of the expected budget-friendly EV: Standard and Long-range.

This is more like Tesla’s customary procedure to divide trims and specs. Even though the Model 2 wasn’t designed to be a fully loaded premium performance vehicle, it definitely wouldn’t lack strength.

It has a great range. The Model 2 would have a range of around 220 to 300 miles on a single charge, which is common among the other electric vehicles in its price range.

This means you can seamlessly drive across the country without having to recharge your car frequently, which is a huge plus for long-distance drivers.

Although the Model 2 seems to have a few shortcomings on the powerful drive-feel side, its electric motors would still give it enough instant power and torque to make for a decent drive. Model 2 is expected to go from 0 to 60 in around 6-8 seconds.

Nothing short on SPEED!

Tesla will most likely create the Model 2 with a few budget-friendly driven choices, which means it might not be as thrilling to ride. Nevertheless, it will still have that instant infamous Tesla torque to make up for it.

Why Entry-Level EV Matters?

Cheaper Tesla models would mean more people could afford them and enjoy them. The EV auto industry is competitive, but analysts see a lot of potential in the low-end market.

Chevy plans to launch its new Equinox EV at a smashing base price below $30,000, hoping to attract buyers in this budget-conscious EV segment. In fact, GM and Honda have joined hands to bring even more affordable EV models to the market in near future.

How this will happen?

Several factors are driving down the cost of manufacturing electric vehicles. For one thing, battery technology is constantly evolving and becoming more efficient and cheaper.

Many companies are investing in research and development (R&D) to develop new processes for making electric vehicles that are cheaper and more efficient than existing methods.

Finally, as demand for EVs increases, economies of scale will help drive down the cost of producing them.

Will Tesla Come Up With The $25,000 Model 2?

It’s highly unlikely that the Model 2 release will happen this year or even next year due to global shortages. Most factories won’t produce the model until 2023 at the earliest.

Out of all the manufacturers working on electric cars, Tesla is one of the most well-known. Their flagship model, the Tesla Model S, is a huge success and quickly became one of the most popular electric cars on the market.

But Tesla Model 3 was the one to make Tesla company more famous and stronger. How? It was the most affordable and efficient Tesla sedan on the block!

Tesla Model 3 is their most selling car but still costs nearly $50K. Although Tesla is known for its expensive, high-end cars, the company has hinted that it might be working on a cheaper model in the future.

There have been many rumors surrounding this Tesla Model 2. Some have speculated that it might be a cheaper version of the current Tesla Model 3, while others believe it will be a mini Model Y. However, it is highly unlikely that we will see the release of this model in the next year or even next few years, as Tesla factories will be too busy producing the Cybertruck and Tesla Model 3 to make-up for the pile-up.

Despite all the rumors and speculation surrounding the Tesla Model 2, one thing we do know for sure is that Tesla will not release the car until it can meet all the global demands of previous production models.

We might be waiting a while before we can get our hands on this new model, but luckily Tesla’s current models are still an amazing alternative.

What To Expect?

If you’re not planning on buying a Tesla for a few years, check back in with the news of the Tesla Model 2 periodically!

With the recent electrification of vehicles and growing consumer interest, Tesla may release a more affordable model for the masses. Given last year’s production woes are (hopefully) behind them, this is even more unlikely.

Cybertruck and Robotaxi are still in pipeline and there is no definite news of the launch dates so far. So, Model 2 is not happening anytime soon!

However, if you are still eagerly waiting for a budget-friendly Tesla EV, Model 2 is not going to be your best bet. Tesla and the huge delivery waiting period is a famous niche in itself. You can find stories of people waiting for years to get their Tesla delivered even!

So, waiting for one model which is not even legit and marked by the manufacturer for production is not something you should do.

New Model 3 orders would also take at least a few months with unexpected delays, and rescheduling delivery dates can be frustrating as well. Cybertruck expected delivery is another story. Moreover, prices are soaring too!

Bottomline

As an automotive blog, we view EVs as a crucial development in the future of transportation. While they may be more expensive at present than traditional gas-powered vehicles, the cost of electric cars is gradually decreasing as production scales up and R&D continues.

And with concerns about air quality and climate change growing, it is increasingly important for electric vehicle manufacturers to focus on producing more affordable electric vehicles.

The environmental benefits of electric vehicles far outweigh their higher initial cost. EVs produce zero emissions, making them a much more sustainable option than traditional gaspowered vehicles. Additionally, electric vehicles are more efficient than gasolinepowered engines and require less maintenance. This means that, in the long run, EVs can be more economical than their gaspowered counterparts.

As battery technology improves, the range and charging speed of EVs are becoming more competitive with traditional cars. This will further increase the appeal of EVs and make them more accessible to consumers. Ultimately, EVs are paving the way for the future of transportation, and the automotive industry will continue to benefit from the advances made in electric vehicle technology.

Already, we are seeing major shifts in the auto industry towards EVs like with Tesla Model 2. Many well-known brands, such as Toyota and Chevy, are expanding their electric vehicle offerings to provide more affordable options for consumers.

A number of startups have entered the market, driven by the desire to create innovative new electric vehicles that can compete with traditional cars on cost and performance.

Ultimately, if we want to achieve a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly future, welcoming Model 2 would support the continued development of more affordable electric cars at Tesla.
