CyberLandr: Crazy Collapsible Camper for Tesla Cybertruck Has Received $50 Million in Pre-Orders

Google Vehiclesuggest News

Tesla Cybertruck is arriving later this year, or maybe early next year. Most of the general public is getting excited, and so are the after-market product developers. Companies like Stream It are coming up with some crazy mods for the electric pick-up, which includes the CyberLandr. The CyberLandr is basically a collapsible camper that you install in the truck bed of your Cybertruck. This camper consists of a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, all inside the vault of the truck. This makes CyberLandr completely liveable for small families.

The interesting thing about CyberLandr is the relatively small effect it has on the performance of the vehicle. Since it is completely collapsible, there is no effect on the drag coefficient of the vehicle, as opposed to other RVs that have to be towed. It does add up to 1200 pounds (544 kg), but the company says it reduces the range by just 5%.

First Reactions to the CyberLandr

Since this collapsible camper affects the performance by a very small margin, it has attracted many people and gained publicity. The idea has a lot of merits, and a $5,000 deposit isn’t too steep either. The parent company, Stream It, has announced that they have taken in $50 million already in future revenue.

Stream It’s co-founder Bill French announced this news in a press release recently:

We believe the enthusiasm is a direct result of people envisioning how this new adventure vehicle can improve their lives. People are telling us of many new uses for both wilderness and urban adventures. For example, parents at athletic matches, or the ability to boondock and overland to places previously inaccessible to a traditional RV. We estimate CyberLandr will be used 2-3 times more than traditional RVs because it is so easy to take with you.

Features of the CyberLandr

The camper starts at the edge of the lowered tailgate and has retractable stairs. The door slides upward, and there is a solar roof that extends beyond the vehicle. Not only does it provide a shady area, but is also responsible for generating 500 watts of power. The door will be automatic open-and-close using a web app.

The overall interior look is spacious thanks to the large windows providing a lot of natural sunlight. Owners can use the main compartment as a kitchen, office, living room, or bedroom. The kitchen contains a sink with a voice-activated faucet. An invisible induction top is situated on a five square foot porcelain counter, and below it, is a compressor fridge.

There are two free-standing chairs with pivoting tables. This can be used as an office, with a 32-inch wall-mounted TV for entertainment/work. A StarLink satellite provides high-speed internet connectivity. The setup also includes WiFi connectivity.

And of course, you can convert this office into a bedroom too. The chairs fold into a queen-sized bed with voice-activated lighting and climate control. You can also use the app for this. The security system consists of 360-degree surveillance and motion detectors.

The bathroom sits on the tailgate of the Cybertruck. It has a recirculating shower with a four-stage filter. The fresh-water tank will be inside the Cybertruck’s under-bed storage, and when combined with the circulation system, allow for 40 gallons of capacity. There is a foldable, compact sink and a dry-flush toilet with a self-cleaning bowl.

What Lies Next for Stream It and CyberLandr

Make no mistake, Stream It is not entirely close to finishing the development of CyberLandr. They are also getting advice from legendary teardown expert Sandy Munro. He had conducted a teardown series on Tesla Model Y last year, and now, Stream It has summoned him. His role will be to help ensure high quality when they scale production.

Stream It CEO Lance King has predicted a lot more orders for the CyberLandr than the current figure. He says that only 10% of Cybertruck reservation holders have seen CyberLandr in the last three weeks. With Stream It trying to get CyberLand as an add-on option for the Cybertruck, King believes that the orders will definitely go up. He estimates around 10,000 orders in 2022.

The CyberLandr is quite an expensive add-on option, costing $49,995. Of course, there are many promotions that you can avail of to get more savings. You also have the option of paying a $5,000 deposit and jump to the start of the delivery queue, with an additional $10,000 discount as well. Normal reservations can be done with a $100 payment.

Our Opinion

The CyberLandr is a very attractive after-market option for future Cybertruck owners, especially for those who love camping. The collapsibility means that it will hardly affect performance. If Stream It does manage to get the CyberLandr as an official Tesla option, the price may even get reduced.

Of course, it is no surprise that Stream It has received these many pre-orders for CyberLandr. People in the United States are crazy about pick-up trucks, Tesla vehicles and campers. And the Cybertruck-CyberLandr combination offers you all that. It won’t be a surprise if CyberLandr blows up just like Cybertruck did.
