The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, recently took the Ford F-150 for a quick spin. He drove the car in an empty parking lot. While not a full test, it is safe to say that he was impressed with it.
The POTUS drove the new Ford F-150 Lightning, says “this sucker is quick”
The under-development F-150 Lightning thoroughly impressed Biden in the short spin that he took. Although Biden’s trip to Michigan had more to do with the speech he made at the Dearborn plant, the POTUS did enjoy a short drive in the much anticipated F-150 Lightning.
“That’s a fast ass truck.”

An impressed Biden exclaimed that the truck is very quick and stressed about its 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds in a statement about the vehicle.
Biden is already promoting EVs
While Joe Biden has barely had 4 months as the POTUS, he already has big plans to revamp the automotive links that the Federal Government has. Biden wants to replace all 645,000 vehicles that the Government currently uses with EVs. He recently announced the $174B worth of aid to increase EV transportation. This includes $100B of rebates which will be given to the customers. This will be part of the $7,500 rebate that customers receive when they purchase an EV. This is certainly good news for companies like Tesla and GM. The earlier rule stated that any company that has sold over 200,000 EVs can no longer give rebates to customers. This new project would fix this problem for those companies.
The Ford F-150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 Lightning is the electric version of the most popular pickup truck in America. A recent study showed that in 30 out of the 50 states, the most popular car is from the Ford F series. It only made sense for Ford to cash in on the increasing popularity of EVs by launching an electric pickup truck. The Lightning will compete with the Rivian R1T, the GMC Hummer EV, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, and of course the Tesla Cybertruck. All these cars generated a lot of interest and it is clear that the electric pickup truck segment is surely one to look out for.
Ford’s F-150 Lightning has been in development since 2017. Ford claims that this is the most powerful F-150 ever made. While Ford may not experiment with the design, the car will be very powerful. The F-150 is the most popular truck on sale in the USA. This means that it will have a lot of loyal customers. These customers will want to try out the latest pickup from Ford’s stable. the F-150 Lightning will feature a dual-motor system. These motors will put their power down through an all-wheel-drive system. Other details about this truck are not released yet. But the initial impressions are good.
The F-150 will compete against at least 4 different electric pickups. The Cybertruck and the Hummer might be the most well-known of these. But the Rivian and the Chevy Silverado are solid offerings as well. All 4 trucks are highly anticipated and are already making waves in the market.
These are all very distinct when it comes to looks. However, they are all competing in the same space. The Ford F-150 Lightning will slot right into this pack. While the Cybertruck has its strong performance, the Rivian has its smart looks, and the Hummer has its name, the F-150 is the most popular pickup truck of all time. This gives it a distinct advantage. On top of this, Ford is planning on offering a mobile range extender that will fit in the flatbed. This will increase the appeal of an already appealing product.
Although Ford is still lagging behind Tesla when it comes to battery tech, they are catching up. The F-150 shall have a minimum of 300 miles of range. However, Ford is expected to stretch the range to over 400 miles to try and compete with the Tesla Cybertruck.
The Ford F-150 could be the EV that shakes up the market. It has one of the biggest fan followings in the market behind it. It also seems to have the fundamentals right. While it might not be the best performing truck, it will have a good amount of performance. The F-150 will also have a familiar design. The fact that the POTUS has endorsed its performance is also an added bonus. All these things aside, the F-150 could potentially become a very key figure in the EV market. It will bring the perfect combination of strong EV performance and pickup truck abilities. This best of both worlds feel will help garner the attention of any potential customers. It should make the F-150 a success. Its 2022 release time is also perfect. With the market poised for more and more products, a product like the F-150 will definitely shake things up for the better.
