Tesla’s flagship sedan, the Model S, might finally be getting the attention it deserves. According to Tesla Newswire’s official X account, Tesla’s Mexican official website accidentally shared a Model S refresh image showing some upcoming interior upgrades.
While it is not clear when we are going to see the refresh model, the leaked image confirms Tesla is working on it.
Tesla Model S Refresh Leaked Interiors
Tesla Model S has been holding its ground of grand fame for years now and might finally be getting the refreshing attention that it strongly deserves. Tesla posted a photo on its Mexican website that reveals a bit about what Tesla is planning for the refresh. Heck! It could even be the real production version model as well.
The leaked image that was briefly live on Tesla’s official Mexican website is going to start new conversations about how the interiors of the EV might actually look.
The photo does reveal a subtle upgrade of ambient lighting and a metal bar below the phone charger. However, not many appreciate the details that were leaked from the photo. Why? Well, they are not revealing much about the refresh version of the Model S.
One Reddit user commented on the photo, saying that this photo shows nothing much in terms of an upgrade or a refresh. He even called out to Elon, questioning what he has been doing so far and if this is all Tesla could do.

What’s In The Tesla Model S Reveal?
The first reveal is of the ambient lighting, which is visibly integrated along the door trims and the dashboard edges. Another highlight of the photo is the metal strip-like part that most of the people on social media are saying is still there in the older version. One X user commented, saying it was a gear selector.
That’s no metal insert below the phone charger. It’s the plastic gear selector, just as in the current one. The sun on it makes it appear metal, but it isn’t.

Launched in 2012, the Tesla Model S definitely made heads turn with its powerful and luxurious looks and feel. But over a decade later, the car remains fundamentally the same, even after a few facelift updates over all these years.
The cabin looks a little updated, and the metal might be an upscale touch that suggests Tesla might be doing so to match the recently refreshed Model 3 and Model Y interiors.
The leaked photo honestly doesn’t give away much in terms of information about the refresh model. The photo just gives a hint of a refresh Model S is indeed in order to be honest.
Why the Refresh Matters?
The prominent major updates for the Tesla Model S came around 2016 with a facelift, and in 2021, that came with a yoke and ground-breaking plaid version. The yoke did bring some controversies, but the Model S remains a favorite among its fans. Model S was even mentioned in the top 10 list of the 2010s best gadgets list.
Earlier this year, Tesla’s VP Lars Moravy of Vehicle Engineering confirmed that the aging Model S and Model X, saying that Tesla does plan to give them an update like they have done with Model 3 and Model Y.
The recent leak, whether accidental or intentional, shows Tesla’s intentions that they still see potential in their pioneering sedan. Even small updates like ambient lighting can indeed rekindle the interest of the buyer. The leaked image also helps in building some trust in the Tesla brand, given its turbulent state of sales globally.
Bottomline
Telegraph once called the Model S the car that changed the world, yet the car has increasingly felt neglected, especially in front of the Model 3 and Model Y. As promised by the Tesla VP earlier this year, the refresh Model S launch might be around the corner. The leaked image didn’t showcase a dramatic redesign of the interiors, but it does hint at refinements underway.
