Tesla has taken another bold step with the expansion of its rental programme in the United States. The program is currently seen as offering maximum convenience, flexibility, and a taste of what the entire Tesla experience would be like, and the program now has an array of enticing perks, including unlimited miles, free Supercharging, and even Full Self-Driving (FSD) with every rental.

Offering cheaper daily rates and a purchase incentive, which is integrated into Tesla, is obviously an effort to introduce more drivers to its ecosystem and reduce the entry threshold to EVs.

To most EV drivers, owning an electric vehicle comes with questions: How often will I need to charge? What does FSD feel like? How does range hold up on longer trips? The Tesla expanded rental program is the solution to all these questions, as it comes with a low-commitment experience of the brand.

Rentals can be used over a maximum of seven days, allowing the customers to use the car in their daily commuting experience, road trips, or a multi-state exploration without worrying about the number of miles covered. With the option of free Supercharging, Tesla can guarantee that renters can discover freely and may recharge at any of the thousands of stations around the country at no cost.

Full Self-Driving Included

One of the standout features of the program is the Full Self-Driving package. Tesla has the most sophisticated driver-assistance system called FSD, which provides automated lane change, traffic lights, city street navigation, and others. To most customers, it is the first time they will get to sample the technology without the initial cost that will be in the thousands of dollars.

It is not only that FSD makes the rental more interesting, but it is also a strong demonstration that Tesla has software capabilities. The company has consistently highlighted the fact that the future of driving is autonomous, and the future of driving is entered into by this rental program, albeit momentarily, say over seven days.

Affordable Pricing Across the Lineup

Tesla has maintained simple and affordable pricing. Rates per day are different depending on the model; however, they are much lower than the average luxury or specialty car rental costs:

  • Model 3 / Model Y: $60 per day
  • Cybertruck: $75 per day
  • Model S / Model X: $90 per day

This pricing structure enables renters to have the flexibility to select the car that most effectively fits them, it could be the all-purpose nature of the Model Y, the sci-fi look of the Cybertruck, or the luxury performance of the Model S and X.

With such prices, Tesla enables the drivers who are intrigued by electric vehicles or are thinking of buying a Tesla to take a longer test ride that seems to be a true ownership experience.

One of the most strategic components of the program is a $250 discount toward the purchase of any Tesla vehicle if the customer buys within seven days of returning their rental. Although it is small, the reward serves as a motivator to drivers who get hooked on the experience. Once the rental period ends and renters begin to pay a fee, actively test FSD, and experience unlimited driving, the shift to ownership might not seem as unnatural as it might seem.
