Tesla has made a significant move towards the much-anticipated manufacturing of its new-generation Roadster. The company has issued an official advertising notice for a new job position of a Manufacturing Engineer working on the Roadster program – the first to list a position since the vehicle’s launch. This move is a strong pointer that Tesla is now ready to convert the Roadster into a prototype that is ready to go into mass production.
The declaration signifies a fresh stage in the Tesla zoning of the Roadster that was first unveiled way back in 2017 with commitments of a world record in speed and a sci-fi shape. Decades after stalling and switching its focus, with the Cybertruck and Full Self-Driving development, Tesla seems to be now equipped to make its most ambitious sports car to date.
As per the job description displayed by Tesla, the role of the Manufacturing Engineer will be to assume key responsibilities in the setup of the production line, the design of processes, and the quality control of the new Roadster.
This role would entail working hand-in-hand with the engineering and design departments at Tesla to ensure that the unique parts of the vehicle, such as its advanced powertrain and its ultra-light carbon fiber body, are up to the standards of Tesla in terms of performance and scalability.
The job description also highlights the need to have hands-on experience in automotive manufacturing, automation integration, and high-performance vehicle assembly, which is an indication that Tesla is about to leave prototyping and get into the tooling and production preparation phase.
Equipment commissioning, assembly line optimization, and cross-functional process validation are also part of the role and are vital within the months prior to production commencement.

A Major Milestone After Years of Anticipation
In 2008, the original Tesla Roadster was released, and it became the first production vehicle by the company and the basis of the company’s becoming one of the world leaders in the EV industry. The next-gen Roadster to be offered will be a real halo car, an engineer’s demonstration of what electric performance can be.
Elon Musk has been joking about its incredible specifications:
- 0–60 mph in under 1.9 seconds
- Over 250 mph top speed
- Charges of up to 620 miles.
Later, Musk hinted at the fact that the production model would have unseen levels of performance and features that would make it feel like a spaceship. It is rumored that the ultimate model might also have the technology developed by the SpaceX collaboration in Tesla, such as cold-gas thrusters to improve acceleration and maneuverability.

Unveiling Expected Later This Year
Tesla has assured that the official launch of the production version of the Roadster will occur later this year. It will presumably present the completed design, production specifications, and possibly even a preview of limited-edition variants.
Industry insiders believe Tesla could use the event to emphasize its technological dominance in electric performance and solidify the Roadster as a symbol of its innovation leadership.
