The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance recently shattered records at Rockingham Dragway, demonstrating Tesla’s relentless pursuit of optimizing electric vehicle performance. Stripping the car of 100 pounds by removing all passenger seats, driver Travis Wills pushed the vehicle to its limits, clocking a quarter-mile time of just 10.65 seconds at 128.05 mph and achieving a 0-60 mph sprint in 2.78 seconds.
Wills noted the vehicle felt exceptionally quick even compared to the 2022 Model 3 Performance, thanks to the weight reductions and the use of 235/45/18 all-season efficiency tires.

Despite the track’s lack of preparation due to low turnout, these tires provided excellent traction, underscoring the car’s capabilities under less-than-ideal conditions. To fully optimize the car’s performance, Wills preconditioned the battery by navigating to a Supercharger before each run.
This record-setting performance not only highlights the potential of Tesla’s engineering but also serves as a benchmark for enthusiasts and competitors alike. It suggests that with minimal modifications and careful preparation, the Tesla Model 3 Performance can deliver astonishing speed and agility, marking another milestone in the EV industry’s advancement.
