Following the US launch, Tesla has officially released the all-new Model Y Standard in Europe, priced at €39,990, making it one of the most affordable ways for European buyers to enter the Tesla lineup. This new model features a refreshed design, a simplified interior, and an impressive 534 km WLTP range, while retaining the practicality for which the Model Y is famous.
Currently scheduled to start delivery between December 2025 and January 2026, the Tesla Model Y Standard is a step towards ensuring that electric mobility can be more affordable for customers in Europe without sacrificing performance and other fundamental features.
Refreshed Design and Simpler Exterior
The first thing that catches the eye is the fact that the Model Y Standard has a redesigned front fascia that is cleaner with better aerodynamics. The single-part headlights make it look more united and futuristic, but Tesla has chosen not to include matrix headlights to make it cost-competitive.
A front bumper camera is an additional up-tech visual addition to the car, and the car lacks a light bar on the front, which helps keep the car minimalist. Interestingly, Tesla has used a closed steel roof in place of the glass roof, which was probably made due to the cost-cutting factor and better cabin insulation in the colder European weather.
The car is mounted on 18-inch Aperture wheels, as the wheels are the only alternative that can support this model. This decision supports the approach of the Standard towards efficiency and comfort instead of fanciful upgrades.
Simplified Yet Functional Interior
Tesla has made the inside of the Model Y Standard less complicated, but it still has the basic technology that makes its cars such a defining element. The interior is simple yet functional, with a combination of a dual-tone seat design with textile and vegan leather, including textile decor panels to create a more comfortable touch and sustainable look.
An open center console design is used, and the sound system is 7 speakers, which is not very impressive in comparison with the more expensive models, but it can still provide a reasonable audio experience. It is worth noticing that the FM radio has not gone away yet, serving the traditional users who do not stop listening to live radio.
The dashboard features a huge 15.4-inch front touchscreen as the primary control and infotainment center. But Tesla has not equipped the car with the second row touchscreen, which is available in newer models such as the Model 3 refresh.
The seats in the first row are heated, and the seats in the second row are manually foldable to allow the flexibility to carry cargo. The steering wheel and side mirrors are also manually adjustable, and the side air vents of the second row can also be adjusted manually, which underscores the minimalistic and cost-efficient nature of the Standard.
Performance and Handling
The new Model Y Standard has a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) design, with a 0-100km/h in 7.2 seconds. Although the performance is not as fast as that of its dual motors, it is still more than sufficient to use it in everyday life and on the highway.
Tesla has also equipped the car with a simplified suspension system with passive shock absorbers that give it more of a comfortable ride than a sporty one. Irrespective of these modifications, the car also has the Autosteer feature, which does not eliminate the essence of driving aids that Tesla is well known for.
Cargo capacity is 75 cubic feet, which is a little less than previously because of the roof design, yet it is spacious enough to carry family or traveling items.
Color Options and Availability
Buyers can choose from three paint options:
- Pearl White (Standard)
- Stealth Grey (€1,300)
- Diamond Black (€1,300)
This small palette makes the lineup easy to manufacture yet provides customers with a simple and classic choice of colors.
Tesla has made it official that in December 2025, the first deliveries of the Model Y Standard will start, followed by a wider availability in Europe, around early 2026.
It should be noted that the Model Y Standard Range RWD is the former entry-level car and has already been discontinued, so it is the immediate successor to that car.
