Refreshed Tesla Model X in Lunar Silver Spotted at Fremont with New Features

Tesla continues to refine its flagship vehicle, and the latest sighting in Fremont has everyone in the EV community talking. A new Lunar Silver Model X recently drove out of Tesla’s Fremont factory, revealing subtle yet important design changes to both the interior and exterior. Which VP, Lars Moravy, confirmed around the First quarter of 2025.

Fresh Looks and New Tech

With the new Lunar Silver finish on the Model X, Tesla is making its first step away from its usual, basic paint choices. Although this advanced, silver color reminds many of the Silver Metallic shade from before, it is more intense and cooler, bringing a fresh and elegant look.

Apart from the way it looks, this picture also suggests new hardware will be included. The camera for the front bumper has been positioned comfortably beneath the Tesla logo. Adding such cameras could mean Tesla is enhancing its Full Self-Driving (FSD) sensors to handle more complex situations—it might help the cars respond better to cross traffic or tight urban areas. Tesla FSD v13.2.6 even managed to tackle China’s Urban areas without a scratch.

New Wheels, Classic Form

The 20-inch wheels on the vehicle are a different style from the currently equipped Cyberstream design. Without aero covers on these wheels, they stood out as unusually clean and turbine-like, adding a sporty look and still making the car efficient. Although Tesla hasn’t yet revealed the specifications, it’s believed these wheels have been designed to balance range with performance, a well-known aspect of its top models.

The Model X without Plaid could use this same style, possibly providing drivers a new style that does not depend on removable caps. Some enthusiasts speculate that the open-trail car’s simple look may be intended to improve its driving dynamics by shaping airflow more effectively.

Under-the-hood Speculations

Officially, Tesla has said nothing about software or mechanical changes for this update; However, the addition of the front bumper camera hints at new hardware for Autopilot. Tesla vehicles now rely on vision, instead of radar and ultrasonic sensors. Unfortunately, Tesla’s vision only autopilot crashes into a fake road wall during a safety test.

With a front bumper camera, the car would be better able to detect obstacles in front, provide better help while parking, and support safe driving at low speeds in city areas. While the main release of FSD is coming soon, upgrading the hardware could make a big difference to what Autopilot can achieve.

Model S Updates Likely to Follow

Although the Model X is shown here, many believe the Model S will also benefit from the same new features. Since they are built in the same way and have identical inner structures, these vehicles often have similar features. Any Lunar Silver package will probably show up on both models, and upgraded cameras or steering wheels could make their way to the sedan as well.

Some believe new versions of the Model S and X could arrive at Tesla showrooms within a week, so customers can examine them and see what’s new. We don’t yet know if these updates will involve changing the price or making updates to the configurations.

Strategic Refresh for a Competitive Market

The Model S and X of Tesla show off what the brand can do in technology and design. Updates to the Model S and Model X greatly affect Tesla’s reputation, even though those cars represent only a small share of the company’s total sales.

The number of electric luxury SUV players is growing, as companies such as Rivian, Lucid, and classic automakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW enter the fray. BMW even outsold Tesla in Europe. The company’s modest, strategic changes affirm its intention to remain in the lead, without having to change the design completely.

While the Model X is being updated and new ones appear in stores, everyone will be watching to see what Tesla unveils next. New Tesla features, no matter how significant, enhance their ongoing approach to electric vehicles.
