Four Tesla Prototypes Likely CyberCabs Seen at Giga Texas as Production Nears

Another series of images has been released out of the Tesla Giga Texas plant, where four enigmatical covered cars are parked in a blocked part of the parking area. These models are rumored to be undergoing trials with black covers featuring bright blue and purple accents, which are considered to be Tesla CyberCabs, the next flagship of its autonomous ride-hailing cars.

The observation further fuels the increasing confidence that Tesla is moving toward its next-generation robotaxi platform production. Employee reports, drone footage, and internal communication leaks have, in the last few months, indicated there has been something big going on at Giga Texas. These most recent shots seem to indicate that the next chapter of self-driving innovation at the company is shaping up very fast.

A Glimpse of What’s Coming

The vehicles covered with their own unique aerodynamic silhouette were observed parked in the vicinity of logistics containers and heavy machinery at the south lot of the factory. The first thing leakers identified is a few characteristics that make them unlike the existing Tesla models: namely, a low stance, small proportions, and what appears to be an entirely smooth roofline with no side mirrors, which aligns with previous rumors that the CyberCab would have no conventional driver interfaces.

Portable prototypes are held down by tires laid over the covers- probably to ensure they are not accidentally exposed to the unpredictable wind gusts of Texas. Tesla has a record of keeping early-stage models under wraps, yet the number of models in view indicates an organized phase of validation, and not individual engineering evaluations.

The Road to Autonomy

Elon Musk has been vowing to have a special purpose robotaxi for years, commonly calling it a revolution in transportation economics. The CyberCab will be autonomous, and is planned to be manufactured without any steering wheel or pedals, unlike the current consumer models of Tesla cars, which provide both auto-driven and manual controls.

The platform is also said to be built upon the next-generation vehicle architecture of Tesla, a simpler, cost-efficient vehicle that can be produced in large numbers with the help of a modular design. The design of the robotaxi, according to remarks of Musk in the past, will be a futuristic and cyberpunk design, including elements of the Cybertruck, but will be less generalized to suit the urban environment.

This sighting leads Tesla fans to think that Giga Texas is no longer in the prototype-making process but rather in the initial validation production phase, the one that precedes the full mass production. The timing coincides with the fact that Musk has already indicated that the robotaxi fleet would be produced in 2025.

Hacktivists Are Commonplace

This is not the first occasion when strange prototypes have been observed in the Austin factory. Several aerial drone operators recorded covered vehicles coming in and out of restricted zones around the design and engineering facilities of Tesla over the summer. It was not known at the time whether such cars were part of the robotaxi program or other future models, such as the smaller Model 2.

But the uniform form and increasing frequency of appearances now are highly suggestive of a committed CyberCab rollout. There are even industry observers who postulate that Tesla might be engaging in low-volume pilot assembly to test new production technologies, such as gigacasting and structural battery production.

The Countdown Begins

As of now, Tesla has nothing to say on what exactly the CyberCab program entails. But the increasing activity of Giga Texas does not need explanation. Having four separate prototypes on the streets and several test models supposedly in action, it appears that the time to the autonomous Tesla future is officially here.

The first fleet will reach the roads in 2025 or maybe a little later but one thing is certain, the vision of Tesla in the fully self-driving ride-hailing network is no longer a concept, it has just rolled in parked behind the factory gates in Austin and is ready to be rolled out first.
