Chinese EV makers are on the rise. Just a month ago, Xiaomi unveiled its Xiaomi SU7 Ultra high-performance luxury EV, and a few days back, China’s biggest automaker, BYD, unveiled a new revolutionary charging technology that can charge your EVs in just 5 minutes. Adding to this, just on April 9th, BYD revealed two revolutionary electric automobiles — The Han L sedan and Tang L SUV.

Based on the company’s new 1000V Super e-platform, both vehicles have supercharging capability, advanced driver assistance systems, and impressive range, even at entry prices that undercut essential rivals, such as Tesla. The pricing is very aggressive, starting at just $30,000, which is even cheaper than the Tesla Model 3, making these EVs a very tempting option.

At the heart of BYD’s new EVs is its Super e-platform, a derivative of a 1000V electrical architecture that greatly enhances charging speed and power delivery. As stated by CEO Wang Chuanfu, the ultimate fix for charging anxiety is for EV refueling to become “as fast as filling a gasoline car”. Those new models are BYD’s first steps toward realizing that vision.

Han L and Tang L adopt BYD’s latest ultra-fast charging, which is enabled with up to 10C charging speed through double charging guns. This innovative technology enables a maximum Huang sedan to be filled up to 248 miles (400th) in just 5 minutes. A full 0% to 100% charge, however, would take only 20 minutes and can charge from 10% to 70% in just six minutes. The Tang L SUV can add up to 230 miles (370 km) in five minutes and fully charge in 30 minutes.

Han L Electric Sedan

Han L Electric Sedan: Premium Performance at a Competitive Price

Three trims of the Han L electric sedan start at 219,800 yuan (about $30,000). Which is far cheaper than the 270,000 yuan ($36,800) original pre-sale price of their vehicle, sign-posting BYD’s aggressive pricing move.

The Han L measures 5,050 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,505 mm tall, placing it in the same category as the Tesla Model S. It is empowered by an 83.2 kWh BYD Blade battery pack—especially known for its security and stability graphs—and offers a stellar 435 miles (701 km) CLTC driving vary.

In addition to performance, the Han L boasts BYD’s “God’s Eye” intelligent driver-assistance system, specifically the ‘B’ level of the tech paired with DiPilot 300. This run of the system includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane centering, and other semi-autonomous bits meant to improve both safety and comfort.

Tang L Electric SUV: Space, Power, and Innovation

While for customers wanting more space and flexibility, the Tang L SUV is just as nice a choice. Priced from 239,800 yuan ($32,700), it also comes in three trims and shares the same built 1000V Super e-platform.

Slightly larger than Tesla’s Model Y Juniper, the Tang L measures 5,040 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,760 mm tall. It is equipped with a bigger 100.5 kWh battery rated for as much as 435 miles of CLTC range. With charging power ever so close to the Han L, it provides the most convenience for long-distance travel.

The Tang L also boasts the “God’s Eye B” ADAS with DiPilot 300, positioning it right in line with BYD’s Centralized objective of leading an intelligent connected driving experience.

Both the Han L and Tang L can be had as plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions. These derivative merchandise commence at 209,800 yuan ($28,500) and 229,800 yuan ($31,300), inspiring guys to get additional choices of acquiring the electric vehicle and fuel innovation controllable.

Conclusion

Not only is BYD making breakthroughs in car performance and charging, but also in breaking through the price taboo. These vehicles will be affordable, offering long range, fast charge, and advanced safety features for a mass market, at a reasonable price. As BYD expands around the world, these models could be key players to lead the electric future.

  1. Make them the same price here in Australia then we can talk, otherwise it isn’t going to happen. As a consumer I am trading your unknown reputation for service, longevity, and spares availability, against the vehicle cost here in Oz, all areas that carry risk for me. What is the value of a 10yr warranty if you might go bust? Where is the security I get from Toyota or Ford for example as established brands? Unfortunately these car manufacturers seem to be way behind the product offering from China so price is where it lands. In markets without tariffs like ours, reward us with equivalent local pricing, it’s the only way you will survive here, stop being so greedy.
