Tesla has cleared a big regulatory test in Europe, with certification approval paving the way for the introduction of its revised Model 3 sedan and updated Model Y Long Range AWD. This approval indicates that European customers will soon enjoy the recent design and technology upgrades that Tesla has already implemented in other markets.
The new Model 3, which is already present in China, will be introduced in Europe with two crucial modifications that would improve usability and safety:
Front Bumper Camera: The introduction of a camera that is built into the front bumper ensures that the car is seen better and its field of perception is increased. The update will not only help with parking and maneuvering in narrow areas but will also increase the capabilities of Tesla Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) as the system will have a better forward view.
Returning the Turn-Signal Stalk: The most desired among the driver feedback was the reintroduction of the old turn-signal stalk. The redesign of the Tesla steering wheel that moved turn signals to touch-sensitive steering wheel buttons received mixed responses as of late. Tesla is catering to the tastes of the drivers by reinstating the stalk, which indicates that user experience will continue to be the basis of its design approach.
These updates, combined, strike a balance between futuristic minimalism and the functionality required to ensure that European customers obtain a version of the Model 3 that feels more advanced without compromising intuitive controls.
Model Y Gets a Battery Boost
In addition to the Model 3 update, Tesla has affirmed that the long-range AWD of the Model Y that is being built in Giga Berlin will have a major battery upgrade. The LG battery pack has a capacity of 82 kWh, which is an improvement in the range and efficiency of Tesla’s most popular SUV.

This larger-capacity battery is expected to provide several advantages:
- Extended Driving Range: Although the official data has not yet been released, the 82 kWh pack can be expected to provide the Model Y Long Range AWD with a better range, which will minimize the number of charging stops during long-distance travel.
- Enhanced Performance: The enhanced chemistry and design of the LG 5M cells will be more efficient and have higher thermal management, which will result in a longer and healthier life cycle.
- European Localization: As the batteries are placed in the vehicles produced by Giga Berlin, Tesla becomes even more dedicated to regional supply chains, which might cut the expenses of production and delivery of the cars to the customers in Europe.
The Tesla market in Europe is considered to be one of the key ones, as the usage of EVs is high, and there is a risk of local competition. Tesla can be said to be on its way to the top of competitors like Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz due to equipping the Model Y with the upgraded LG battery and adjusting the Model 3 to the expectations of the drivers.
The reintroduction of the turn-signal stalk is also indicative of Tesla being open to making the designs in the regional setting, which may be welcomed by customers otherwise inclined towards the more conservative controls of European automakers.
