This time Elon Musk is all guns blazing for the Robotaxi event as Tesla has started sending out invites for the Robotaxi event. Invitations have been sent out for an exclusive event scheduled for October 10th in Los Angeles.
Elon has been talking about a dedicated self-driving vehicle for a while now. And now Musk has raised expectations sky-high, calling the event “one for the history books.” This is a significant moment for Tesla, especially with Musk’s bold claims of self-driving Robotaxis.
Here’s everything you need to know!
Tesla Rolls Out Invites for Robotaxi Event
The invite itself is intriguing. It features a tagline, “WE, ROBOT,” which is a clever nod to the 2004 movie “I, Robot”. The Will Smith starrer film was set in 2035, featuring a future full of autonomous robots and cars.
The reference might carry a deeper meaning for Tesla’s Robotaxi vision. In the movie, the car could drive itself autonomously but also offered a manual override option—a feature that could hint at what Tesla might showcase.
Will Tesla reveal a Robotaxi with no steering wheel or pedals but also offer a manual driving option? It’s possible. This would make sense as it aligns with Tesla’s history of blending autonomy with user control. And boy if we are excited!
Robotaxi Event Invite
On September 10, Tesla told shareholders they could apply for a chance to attend the October 10 event in Los Angeles. The Investor Relations team, led by Travis Axelrod, said the winners would be chosen by random drawing, and the more Tesla shares someone had, the better their chances.
The results were supposed to be shared during the week of September 23, and by Wednesday, some people started getting their invites.
As for who’s attending, Tesla has started sending out invites to select investors, but details are still unclear. It seems like the event will be small, with no plus-ones allowed, possibly due to the limited number of Robotaxis available for test rides.
With only a couple of weeks to go before the big Tesla reveal, excitement is surely building. Everyone is eager to see what surprises Tesla has in store for their long-awaited Robotaxi service launch. However, some are just unsure of the launch saying that there will be no Robotaxi and Elon Musk again will say it is coming soon.

What Took So Long?
Originally, this reveal was supposed to happen in August, but it got pushed back to October. Tesla is walking a fine line with its Robotaxi development. Eliminating hardware controls like steering wheels and pedals could drastically reduce the cost of manufacturing. But it’s a risky move.
The software, specifically Full-Self Driving (FSD), needs to be near perfect for this level of autonomy to succeed. Tesla is betting big on advancing their software to a point where Robotaxis can operate without human intervention. Hence, the delay to be sure about everything.
What We Know About Robotaxi So Far?
Not much has been shared about the Tesla Robotaxi, but there are a few key details. The biggest news? Robotaxi won’t have a steering wheel or pedals. Which is a no-brainer. It’s also rumored to have a design similar to the Cybertruck—so expect something futuristic and bold.
We’ve even seen a prototype.
Tesla Spotted Testing Heavily Camouflaged Robotaxi at Warner Brothers Studios
A camouflaged version of the Robotaxi was reportedly spotted being tested on the Warner Bros. lot, where the unveiling event will be held. While it’s expected to be smaller in size, the Robotaxi should be packed with advanced tech to make full autonomy possible.
Bottomline
The Robotaxi event is absolutely crucial for Tesla. Tesla already has millions of cars on the road, and many owners have paid for the FSD upgrade.
Some of these owners might be interested in adding their vehicles to Tesla’s future Robotaxi network to earn extra income. While it’s not yet clear how this will work, it could change the way people think about car ownership.
If they pull this off with the Robotaxi launch, the rewards are massive. But if they get it wrong, Tesla could be left with thousands of Robotaxis that can’t fully function on their own, leading to huge financial losses. And not to forget the huge pileup of unused Robotaxis.
