Tesla has reportedly enabled Hardware 3 (HW3) owners to upgrade to Hardware 4 (HW4) by installing it directly at Tesla service centres, which could be a significant move that will greatly transform the direction of the autonomous roadmap of Tesla.
The explanation is that Tesla cars, which used to be viewed as having relatively less autopilot (or full self-driving) capabilities, might now be able to have the newest computer of this company.
It is among the most significant hardware changes in the autonomy strategy of Tesla, particularly among the customers who paid to get FSD with the promise of continued software support.

What the HW4 Upgrade Means
HW4 is Tesla’s latest self-driving computer platform, replacing HW3, which has been driving most Tesla automobiles since 2019. Pure Vision: Tesla Doubles Down on Cameras and AI
One of the hottest points in the autonomy approach by Tesla is the philosophy of vision only. Compared to most of the competitors, Tesla is not dependent on LiDAR, radar, or ultrasonic sensors in its newest vehicles.
